Don’t Disregard the New Balance 1400

New Balance may have an international legion of fans who covet the 99x series, but the four-digit offerings are not to be slept on. Occasionally overshadowed by its 1300 and 1500 bookends, the 1400 remains a bit of an underrated model in many parts of the world. However, seemingly simple colourways like this core black edition pack a lot of punch beneath its tonal surface.

Among the many merits of the 1400 is its comfortable suede construction, which makes up the entire upper except for the tongue, heel tab, and N branding. This may not be as breathable as mesh inserts, especially on the toe box, but the result is a hardier finish and elegant presentation.
