Dark and Brooding: The DTLR x New Balance 2002R ‘Purple Noir'
With over 245 stores in 19 states, retailer are no doubt one of the most successful lifestyle outposts on earth. Over the years, DTLR have been extremely active with frequently tapping the 99x series as well as other popular silhouettes like the and brand new (let’s also not forget their brief period with ).
The latest collaboration between DTLR and New Balance again involves the 2002R, this time featuring an incredibly moody ‘Purple Noir’ palette – Orson Welles cinephiles rejoice! Accented by eye-catching iridescent ‘Purple Noir’ detailing, the model is also elevated by neon green accents on the tongue, forefoot, and heels. The nocturnal swagger doesn’t end there, however, as the model also utilises glow-in-the-dark detailing for an extra pop.
For its part, the New Balance 2002R has become one of NB’s modern smash hits. Originally over budget and under-appreciated by the masses upon its initial release, the silhouette finally broke into the market in 2021 via some well-placed collaborations and solid GRs. Now boasting a vast roster of collaborators including the likes of , , and Australia’s , it’s perhaps the that really took the silhouette to new heights – the popular series most recently revisited late last year.
Look for the DTLR x New Balance 2002R ‘Purple Noir’ to release exclusively at DLTR in-store and online on May 17. Adult, grade school and pre-school sizes will be available.
