Japan's emmi Elevate the ASICS GEL-NYC

Having recently linked with the likes of and , are continuing to build on their women’s exclusive sneaker offerings with . Hailing from Japan, emmi is a women’s leisure and activewear brand who have been dipping their toe into the footwear scene with previous ASICS collaborations and projects with Converse and Teva. Now, the duo are linking up again to drop a particularly clean emmi-exclusive ASICS .

Though the ASICS GEL-NYC only made its debut earlier this year, it’s quickly become a mainstay of ASICS’s offering, with the likes of , and all putting their spin on the silhouette so far. The hybrid silhouette combines elements from the GEL-NIMBUS 3 and GEL-MC PLUS up top, while more modern elements come from the GEL-CUMULUS 16 tooling.

Embracing emmi’s sporty-chic aesthetic, the emmi x ASICS GEL-NYC is a modern and minimalistic take on the retro-inspired silhouette. Swapping out its usual suede panels for both glossy and matte silver overlays, emmi have dialled up the Y2K vibe while keeping things practical for sporty girls on the go. Elsewhere, an ivory mesh base adds a feminine touch, while lemon yellow detailing injects energy into the branding hits. A two-toned midsole marries the grey and ivory touches together, while the GEL outsole features pearl glitter as a finishing touch.

The emmi x ASICS GEL-NYC is set to touch down at emmi on May 15, with pairs launching on a pre-order basis. An ASICS release is expected to follow.
