and have a singular creative vision for their collaborations. Since first , they've mastered the art of producing simple, elegant footwear, that reveals a world of special details and material placement upon closer inspection. The latest addition to their collaborative canon is a four-pack of takes on the , each with a medley of materials and small-but-serious construction changes that elevate the classic skate shoe.
The partners have created four colourways: white and black, tan and white, all white and all black. The first two feature a classic lacing system, while the latter duo offer a laceless build secured by elastic straps – combining a bit of style with traditional Era construction. This second set also opts to remove the eyelets on its lateral side while leaving them in place on the medial side.
All four pairs also offer up a medley of different materials. Usually, Vans present the Era in full canvas or leather builds, but here materials are applied in an asymmetrical fashion. The left shoe supplies a leather toebox, suede lateral side and canvas medial side, while the right shoe opts for suede on its toebox, leather on its lateral side and canvas on its medial side! All four are completed with Vans' modern-day ComfyCush insoles and a traditional waffle-patterned rubber outsole.
Expect the Engineered Garments x Vault by Vans Era collection to drop at Engineered Garments and Nepenthes stores, save for the all-black pair which is a Nepenthes exclusive. The price for each pair is set at ¥15,400, roughly $125 in US dollars.
