Experience Bavarian Beauty in the adidas ‘City Series’ München

The adidas ‘City Series’ continues its 2020 European tour with a stop at München, AKA Munich. The German city is home to centuries-old buildings, the OG Oktoberfest, and a pretty decent football team. And, as adidas are keen to remind you, München is also the name of a classic terrace shoe, which is back in beautiful Bavarian blue.

With a colourway straight outta adi’s Herzo archives, the ‘Royal Blue’ suede sweeps across the entire upper, save for the white leather heel tab and stripe branding. Matching white laces equate to a perfect balance. A department adidas particularly excel in is getting proportions correct: the toe box is sharp and shallow, and the tongue doesn’t sit too high up the foot. It’s all very nice.

But, that’s not all. Goldfoil stamping on the lateral quarter is thick and legible. The gum rubber soles are honey gold, and possibly taste just as sweet (verification required). The tread pattern is finer and more detailed than baseline adi offerings too. Accuracy hasn’t been spared inside either. The insole print recalls early adi branding, with the repeating name and logo pattern.
