FDMTL Deliver Distressed Vans Vault Colab
Japanese brand are back with Vault for a trio of blue-soled shoes. After a brief flirtation with the last year, FDMTL have returned to Vans after they back in 2018. Now, the signature patchwork style returns, but with a heap more distressing, as per the style of the time.
Consisting of the , and , these Vans undergo the FDMTL treatment from top to bottom, and the packaging too. The midsole tape is particularly glossy in its deep blue finish, meaning it will develop its own patina with use. Meanwhile, the uppers have already started the wabi-sabi, with the surface of the canvas uppers fluffed up and thinning to replicate heavy use. Looking past the damaged exterior reveals FDMTL’s unique boro patchwork and sashiko stitching. This latter detail is continued on the laces of the Authentic and Sk8-Hi, which also features the same stitching on its Jazz stripe. As for the box, this collaborative edition applies a faded indigo print to simulate the finish of the shoes contained inside.
The FDMTL x Vans Vault collection will release on August 7 via Vault retailers such as END., who have raffles open right now.
