FILA Releasing More 25th Anniversary Grant Hill 2s
a Team USA-inspired take on arguably their most popular retro basketball shoe, the . While that was a super limited drop with only 50 pairs made available to coincide with the model’s 25th anniversary, FILA are continuing the celebrations with some more period correct colourways.
The Grant Hill name is more than just a basketball shoe. He was a very highly regarded player in the NBA for almost 20 years. He racked up numerous achievements including multiple All-Star caps, secured a spot on the gold-medal winning Men’s Basketball team at Atlanta 1996, and induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Of course, his second signature basketball shoe with FILA is also an integral part of the legacy. First releasing in 1996, the towering Grant Hill 2 design wasn’t as loud nor audacious as some other designs of the era. But, it held its own with a durable leather build and patent trim, and no-nonsense outsole. Its crossover into the streets was all but ratified when rappers including Tupac Shakur made high-profile appearances in the now classic sneaker.
The Grant Hill 2 will return in OG white and navy trim plus an all-black edition later this year. Look out for the 25th anniversary branding and subtle signature on the lateral side.
