First Look: hummel and Astrid Andersen Preview the REACH LX 6000 colab

This Menswear AW20 season has already been one to remember, with many brands taking to the runway to share new collaborations and tease new silhouettes set to the hit the market in 2020! Looking to bring their century-long archive to the forefront, Danish label have partnered with local designer Astrid Andersen to debut the all-new REACH LX 6000, an advanced fusion of vintage sports aesthetics and cutting-edge footwear construction.

According to hummel’s Head of Design, Marshall Hook, the colab is a fusion of minimalism, athleticism, and performance, with a real mash-up of design elements.

‘The REACH LX 6000 was the perfect silhouette for this colab as it possesses some very sporty elements – not just in terms of the design and the pattern of the upper – but the midsole compound itself,’ he explains. ‘This is something that we use on our top performance handball shoes. It's really fusing together fashion and contemporary streetwear with performance and athletics.’

We also managed to catch up with Andersen post-show, where she shared her thoughts on the eclectic creation.

'I knew I wanted a uniform to make it look luxurious with each outfit,’ she says. ‘We brought the story to the inside of the shoe, and on the outside we really wanted that subtle luscious feeling of tone-on-tone, which I love on my stuff. Also, we have that bright orange heel cap, which brings attention to the shoe.’
