First Look: The Nike Air Max 97 ‘Puerto Rico’
After cancelling the ‘Puerto Rico’ release last year because of issues with the flag design, Nike are once again revisiting the theme – this time for the .
Celebrating 2021’s National Puerto Rican Day, the iconic Air Max 97 silhouette revisits the blazing ‘Silver Bullet’ colourway that helped establish the model as one of Nike’s most successful sneakers in the late 1990s.
Emblazoned with a Puerto Rican flag on the tongue loop and rubber outsole, the AM97 carries a classic ‘Metallic Silver’ and ‘Varsity Red’ colour theme that extends throughout the uppers. ‘Dark Navy Blue’ and red again reinforces the aesthetic homage to Puerto Rico, alongside the phrase ‘Aquí Me Quedo’ (which in English translates to ‘I’ll stay here’) printed on the insole.
Expect the Nike Air Max 97 ‘Puerto Rico’ to land during the lead-up to the National Puerto Rican Day Parade on June 13.
