First Look: The Air Jordan 5 ‘Alternate Grape’
Spring 2020 looks set to be a big season for the classic . Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Tinker Hatfield–designed silhouette, this year has already seen a feverous release of Virgil Abloh’s Off-White AJ5 at All-Star Weekend, and the momentum keeps rolling with the incoming reissue of the iconic colourway and the previously leaked version.
Now wavegod_thelegend has taken to Instagram to provide a first in-hand look at the ‘Alternate Grape’ version that flips the colours of the Fresh Prince–favoured original. Swapping white leather for a rich purple suede on the uppers, the shoe also trades the original white laces, side cage, lace stays, and midsole for a solid black.
Unlike the aforementioned releases, the ‘Alternate Grape’ AJ5 does not feature original ‘Nike Air’ branding on the back heels, going with the standard Jumpman logo instead.
A potential June release date is so far unconfirmed, so stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
