Frosty Fresh: Sean Cliver x Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Holiday Special’ Releasing Soon
are saving some of the best for the last weeks of 2020, with the long-awaited x scheduled to drop in late December. Nike have loaded the colab on their site, containing all of the official shots, drop date, and an official nickname: ‘Holiday Special’.
While this blue-tinged Dunk is much more mellow than the edition that Cliver was behind earlier this year, there is still a flurry of detail that’ll have skaters, hypebeasts, resellers, and even bots scrambling ahead of the drop. Themed around the wintry snowscapes during Christmas (at least north of the Equator), the pale blue suede and white leather uppers are durable and skateable (though, who’s actually going to skate these?), while evoking ice-cold coolness. Glossy gold Swooshes are pretty festive, as is the matching midsole stitching, and glittery ice soles. Velvet lining is a tactile dream and reprises the concept from the StrangeLove colab. However, perhaps the best detail on these Dunks is the custom snowflake perforation on the toe box that replaces the usual layout.
Finishing touches include three sets of laces (silver, gold, white), each with Cliver’s signature on the aglets; custom printed insoles that feature elves in presumably Santa’s workshop working on – in Nike’s own words, ‘unconventional toys’ – and more velvet on the tongue.
The Sean Cliver x Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Holiday Special’ releases on December 19 in adult, kid, and toddler sizing. Get these under the tree.
