G-Dragon Reveals Release Details for the PEACEMINUSONE x Nike Kwondo 1

K-Pop megastar G-Dragon and his PEACEMINUSONE brand are set to release their first original silhouette with Nike: the Kwondo 1. Equal parts wingtip and sneaker, the Kwondo 1 draws heavily from classic dress shoes and golf footwear but remixes the often stodgy style of both with entirely new construction and plenty of branded detailing.

Made up of white leather, the Kwondo 1's signature pieces are its above-mentioned wingtip toebox and the large flaps that cover its laces. These flaps boast both PEACEMINUSONE and Nike branding, and G-Dragon's flower graphic sprouts from the heels. Friends and family-only pairs that were previously revealed featured coloured Swooshes, but the retail release version of the Kwondo 1 is almost entirely monochromatic.

'I want to feel free with the way I wear and style clothes, in addition to everything else that I do', said G-Dragon. 'I hope that people can overcome stereotypes and feel free in their own way by wearing the Kwondo 1'.

Though this wholly unparalleled hybrid is indeed G-Dragon's first true 'signature' model, he's no stranger to Nike colabs – his brand collaborated on the Air Force 1 'Para-Noise' in 2019 and the Air Force 1 'Para-Noise 2.0' in 2020.

Another factoid worth noting is that the Kwondo 1 places G-Dragon in a special class of celebrity endorsers with their own sneakers, one that was previously only occupied by Drake and the NOCTA x Nike Hot Step Air Terra. Other figures like Travis Scott, J Balvin and Justin Timberlake have only remixed existing models, and have never been granted their own original silhouettes.

Look for the PEACEMINUSONE x Nike Kwondo 1 to release via SNKRS and participating retailers come December 3.
