is reuniting with on the , and this is more than just a sneaker for Josué Thomas. The designer and owner of the LA-based clothing brand is known for his avant-garde approach, and he sought to ‘capture the raw energy of his creative process’ with this collaboration.
The design juxtaposes the simplistic cream canvas of the Authentic against the chaos of the Gallery Dept.’s paint splatter, which is reminiscent of last year’s smash hit . Thomas says it represents ‘art that moves, transforms, and becomes part of the wearer’s story’. The slightly pre-distressed midsole bears his creative house logo ‘Art That Kills’ and a small yellow ‘Gallery Dept.’ tag appears near the toe. In a reverse mullet of sorts, the Authentic features a party in the front and clean-cut business in the back. Each pair is made uniquely and will become a representation of the owner’s journey.
The Vans Authentics were first unveiled at Gallery Dept.'s Paris show in January, and after the month-long wait, they are scheduled to release on March 27 for $150.
