Go Against the Tide in the Mizuno Wave Prophecy
The is one of the most intriguing sneakers on the market right now. Undoubtedly catching stares mid-run with its signature Wave midsole technology, this new edition slows things down with a more street-friendly colourway, allowing for even more turned heads.
Suede and mesh may have ruled the roost 50 years ago for performance running, but today its domain is largely for casual use. Which results in the perfect juxtaposition of a shoe that clearly looks like a high-tech athletic machine, but has been detuned for more sedate use. This remixed material choice also gives the Wave Prophecy an anachronistic look among the futuristic plastic overlays, oversized heel counter and namesake Wave sole.
Speaking of the sole, Mizuno Wave technology proposes that the most efficient structure for shoe cushioning is not foam, but an innovative hollow structure. Comprised of wavy plastic strips arranged to flex, compress and propel under load at key areas, the midsole is comparatively lighter and more flexible than traditional soles. Its unconventional design also allows for interesting outsole finishes, such as the speckled type found on this edition.
The Mizuno Wave Prophecy in grey suede and mesh will be available from September 25 through retailers including Afew.
