Gremlins Unleashed on Inspired adidas Stan Smith 'Christmas Monster'
Here’s a late addition for : a Gremlins-themed . For anyone reading under the age of 30, it’s a classic comedy-horror movie that released back in 1984 and featured the adorably abhorrent titular creatures, technically known as ‘Mogwai’, who wreak havoc in the sleepy town of Kingston Falls. These furry Stans are more or less a direct translation of the chaotic critters in sneaker form.
Completely covered in shaggy ponyhair, the distribution of brown and white is laid out asymmetrically between the medial and lateral panels of these Stan Smiths. Some creepy globular eyeballs are transplanted into the ankle tab of each foot, and both eyes look to the left.
Clever finishing touches include gremlin skin printed on the insoles, with three warning symbols included: no sunlight, no water, and no feeding after midnight – which, as 80s kids will remember, are the three tenets to obey when dealing with Gremlins/Mogwais. And everything is packaged in a custom shoebox adorned with printed Christmas decorations because Gremlins is the ultimate Xmas movie (after Die Hard, that is).
The Gremlins-inspired adidas Stan Smith – it’s not a colab, simply known as the ‘Christmas Monster’ here – is due to release on December 19. Only a handful of European retailers have confirmed stock, but check with local adi boutiques for word of a wider drop.
