Hajime Sorayama and Mizuno Go Dark Metallic On Their New Wave Prophecy Colab
Famed Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama and have joined forces for a second take on the Wave Prophecy. Known for his seductive paintings and illustrations of metallic android figures, Sorayama has brought his signature sci-fi sheen to Mizuno's notable running silhouette once again after the two released an back in January.
Where the duo's first Wave Prophecy colab was all sleek and sexy silver, this second style offers a more stark look by using a gunmetal shade across the entirety of its smooth synthetic upper. With its one-piece construction, sock-like collar and embossed Runbird branding, this upper is vastly different from the standard Wave Prophecy, which usually combines mesh and suede for a stacked look.
Playing perfectly off the upper's sleek and sexy look is a jet black Infinity Wave midsole. Though this rippling, two-plate design was made for responsive full-foot cushioning, its unique shape has made it an apt lifestyle choice for the fashion-conscious as well, and for good reason: it's certainly a head-turner! 'Having a date today! Sneakers for a special occasion! That’s the concept,' said Sorayama (aka Mr. Sexy Robots) while discussing the colab in an interview earlier this year.
The Hajime Sorayama x Mizuno Wave Prophecy already saw a Japan-exclusive release at 2G and dropped in a limited run at Dover Street Market Japan as well, but now it's set to release outside the island nation at retailers like Hanon on November 4. The MSRP is set at £260.
