Introducing the Next Generation Nike Pegasus Trail 3
The line was introduced in as a versatile runner that appealed to all athletes, then it quickly branched off into an version in 1988 made for, as the name denoted, all conditions. This off-road offshoot variant lives on today as the Pegasus Trail 3, the third iteration of the revamped trail-ready Pegasus.
This update is more of an evolution rather than revolution, reprising a number of features from the previous two generations that has made it so successful. The Pegasus Trail 3 is not built atop a Nike Air nor Zoom Air sole like its pavement-bound mainline; instead, a sculpted React foam has been deemed the most responsive and adaptive compound for trail running. Protecting things underfoot is the cleated rubber tread bearing an updated Nike Trail logo – props to the designer for the throwback nod!
The Pegasus Trail 3’s uppers continue stripping back as much material as possible to keep weight down and ventilation up, but reinforcement placed at high-wear areas like the toe bumper and welded panels will stave off any wayward snagging.
Among the debut colourways of the Pegasus Trail 3 is this tasty ‘Mystic Teal’ number, which actually alludes back to a Nike hue dating to at least the early 90s. It’s a nice dash of reverence.
The Nike Pegasus Trail 3 will release on June 3.
