Is This adidas Concept the Future of Running?
Ever noticed how people like to train on sand? The soft surface limits the energy return and stability, resulting in a strenuous, muscle-building workout. And if you’re serious about training, that’s what you want. Well, this concept shoe, designed by Aarish Netarwala for , gives everyone access to a high-intensity workout regardless of their proximity to the nearest dunes.
The Grit’s 3D-printed, wrap-around sole mimics the effect of running on sand, engaging the muscles and causing them to fatigue sooner, which increases the amount of energy expended.
Not only is the Grit good for your workout, both its Primeknit upper and lattice sole are 100 per cent biodegradable, so it’s good for the planet too.
Now, it’s only a concept, so there’s no telling if it will actually make it to production, but here’s hoping at least some of this boundary-pushing tech hits the mass market.
