It’s Harvest Time Again for the Nike Air Force 1 ‘Wheat’ Retro
on sneakers has been well established over the decades, and one of the most prominent crossovers is coming back soon. The ‘Wheat’ was a co.jp release back in the early 2000s, and while it has reappeared in on different models, it’s here again in a fairly original guise.
And it’s fairly obvious that this re-release takes plenty of inspiration from the yellow work boot that’s a staple of the workwear world. ‘Wheat’ nubuck uppers recall one of the AF-1’s best material flips, and are paired up with tonal, semi-translucent gum rubber midsoles and brown outsoles. Some trainerspotters will undoubtedly compare the 2001 OG’s solid-coloured midsole to the 2020 retro’s quirky brown ‘crust’ at the stitch line, but it adds a point of differentiation.
The brown contrast carries over to the very plush nylon lining, a particular specification on Uptowns of that early-2000s golden era. Final branding details include contrast brown Air spell-outs on the midsole, heel stitching, and the woven tongue label, which is honestly one of the best parts of this shoe.
While this will likely be a sleeper hit, definitely consider it for your upcoming pickups. This ‘Wheat’ will be ready for harvest once again on October 8 from various Nike retailers.
