Update December 23: Though we've yet to receive a fully proper look at J Balvin's Air Jordan 2 colab, the reggaeton superstar continues to tease it – and he's revealed an interesting new detail via the caption of his Instagram post, which can be seen directly below. Balvin has indicated that his Air Jordan 2 features LED lights, meaning that the glow-in-the-dark detailing we peeped before will be even more vibrant! Stay tuned for further information as it's made available.
The continue to throw their weight behind the for its upcoming 35th anniversary, as seen in the recent link-up with hype man and Chris Gibbs . The next collaborator to step up to the plate? The ‘Prince of Reggaeton’ J Balvin!
This release comes in as Balvin's sophomore sneaker collaboration – with the glow-in-the-dark Air Jordan 2 initially teased back in September, both the soles and Wings logo on the tongue emanating an eye-catching green glow. While the images we have on-hand are still low-res, it looks like we can expect padded collars and mid-foot panels for the AJ2, a significant departure from the leather base layers we’ve come to expect from the silhouette.
A one of the Jumpman’s freshly-minted collaborators, Balvin became the first Latino artist with his collaboration in 2020, the singer taking aesthetic cues from his two albums Vibras (2018) and Colores (2020).
There's no official word on a release date as of yet, but we can expect the J Balvin x Air Jordan 2 to arrive during the early stages of 2022.
