J. Cole’s Sophomore PUMA Shoe is the RS-Dreamer 2
has effectively signed an extension to his deal by unveiling a sequel to the basketball shoe that debuted last year. Simply known as the RS-Dreamer 2, it’s a big move for a number of reasons: a second signature model is often a significant commitment by both parties, and Cole effectively has a bespoke shoe despite primarily being a rapper (but is also a very passionate recreational baller).
At first glance, it doesn’t appear like too much has changed with the RS-Dreamer 2. After all, the original RS-Dreamer debuted barely six months ago. This incremental update simply sees some extra height added to the ankles, and a bright yellow and black killer bee (or perhaps Game of Death look, though probably not intentional) colourway. Well, there’s more to it than that. The upper has also been mildly tweaked to reconfigure the layout of the mesh and leather panels. Meanwhile, the distinct piping running through the midfoot area remains, helping with lockdown when the shoes are properly cinched up. After all, the RS-Dreamer 2 can definitely tear it up on court.
Revealed by Cole on his Instagram in a recreated photo of his classic 2014 Forest Hills Drive album cover, he also announced the RS-Dreamer 2 will release on January 28.
