Jacquemus Just Dropped Their Nike Air Max 1 '86

Update February 5, 2024: While we only got our first look at the upcoming Jacquemus x Nike colab very recently, the designer has since taken to Instagram stories to give us a closer look at his upcoming Air Max 1. Much like his recent Air Force 1 colabs, the Jacquemus x Air Max 1 ‘86 sees the silhouette come with a few design details, including edits to the midsole. While previous images clearly showed off a large rectangular Air Bubble on the lateral side, this latest look shows that the medial sides have had a very different treatment, with one foot featuring a tiny square and the other featuring a small circle. The designer also teased a release date, noting that the pairs will be available in June, before the Olympics.
Update January 29, 2024: Last year, rumours of Jacquemus reimagining Nike's iconic Air Max 1 surfaced. Now, the first images of the upcoming colab have arrived.
The Air Max 1 '86 is set to land in two colourways: white and metallic silver. The classic upper has been reworked with edgier design elements such as a squared toe box and quilted sock liner. Meanwhile, the overlays have been removed, giving the silhouette a more minimal look. Differentiating the two iterations is the perforated lateral of the white pair, but both variations will come with co-branded hangtags.

Air-heads were appeased when first announced the return of the Big Bubble for in the form of the . The iteration features a larger midsole Air unit and was first debuted back in 1986; however, it was short lived due to major cracking in the midsole. Once a mythical silhouette is now a sneakersphere reality, and the Swoosh aren’t holding back on the new releases. They’re coming in hot, first with a potential return of the and now with the rumour of a collaboration between Nike and .
The French fashion designer is no stranger to Nike colabs, with the most recent project being an . It released in October and sold out almost immediately. Before this, Jacquemus partnered up with the Swoosh on the for , as well as a .There’s no hints or imagery as to what the AM-1 ‘86 is going to look like, but based on Jacquemus’s style and previous colabs, it’s sure to be smooth, tasteful, and luxurious.
