Enter the Raffle for Jae Tips’s Friends and Family Edition of the Saucony Matrix
Renowned sneaker customiser is continuing to team up with for some stellar sneakers. Recently remixing the Grid Azura 2000 ‘Remember Who Fronted’ and Grid Shadow 2 ‘What’s the Occasion’, the Brooklyn-based designer now has the 1990s cult classic Saucony Matrix in the crosshairs. Teasing his upcoming collaboration during Paris Fashion Week via social media, the two colourways feature a pill-popping mix of 1990s-style blocking, with sky blues, burgundy and purple all on show.
Typically manufactured in a dense mix of textures and materials like mesh, suede and synthetic overlays, it looks like Jae Tips is staying honest to the eccentric visuals of the Matrix while adding his own signature flair – like the split branding on the tongues, which features both Saucony’s logo and Joe Tips’s Saviour logo. There’s also no shortage of playful elements on the base Matrix model, including the whimsical wavy midsoles and debossed, textural bars along the uppers.
A sneaker that originally released in the 1990s, the Saucony Matrix is still imbued with nostalgic runner sensibilities, making it a great – albeit underrated – sneaker for collaborators like Jae Tips.
Currently, we don’t have any official release details, but make sure to keep it locked to our Fashion Week for updates.
