Jason Dill and adidas Skateboarding Conduct Some Awesome Experiments
The Experiment 1 is rather intriguing – it looks like something from the adidas archives has gone through the nutty laboratories at FA HQ and mutated into a deck destroyer! There are plenty of skate-ready design cues on show: layered leather strips and a speed loop system are overlaid atop a mesh mid foot, while the low-profile outsole is lifted straight from classic adi court designs, namely the . Embossed FA insoles and woven tongue labels complete the custom specifications, which may not be obvious at first glance with the black and white colourway.
Meanwhile, the Experiment 2 is an absolute board burner in its radioactive neon yellow glow. This design, colour palette aside, is somewhat more traditional. It’s reminiscent of classic cupsole skate shoes – that midsole is essentially identical to the Campus, which provides the perfect platform for a simple layered leather upper. The extended toe cap and forefoot overlays clearly show a skater had input on the design. Again, that probably explains the colourway. The Experiment 2’s tongue features multiple flag motifs. After all, skateboarding is for everyone.
