Wider Release Details: JJJJound x New Balance 990v4

After a prolonged teaser period, JJJJound’s collaboration on the New Balance 990v4 finally lands this week. Instead of theorising a deeply introspective story of inspiration and personal reflection, Justin Saunders’ effort simply focuses on ‘a textural contrast that highlights the silhouette’s nuanced colorway.’

And it certainly is nuanced, as previous images seemed to project an all-black colourway, which in fact turned out to be a very dark shade of navy against a black sole and accents. Less is often more, which is what JJJJound have practised here. The suede and mesh combo is per OG v4 specifications, while the only deviation from formula is the branded heel tab. As per the previous look, this colab also comes with a second set of reflective-woven elasticated laces that’s secured by a custom branded toggle. In their words, this feature looks to ‘enhance a versatile functionality that is core to this sneaker’s original identity.’
