Kiko Kostadinov Introduces the Women’s ASICS GEL-FLAMMAE

While legacy lines have the retro runner trend on lock right now, the Japanese brand continues to look to the future in their work with . Having initially onboarded the Central Saint Martins alum as a collaborator, ASICS continues to work with Kostadinov under the brand’s line, with input also coming from Laura and Deanna Fanning, who head up the Bulgarian-born designer’s womenswear line. Now firmly in the swing of things, the next project to come out of the group is the ASICS , with a couple of colourways having surfaced on social media.

Sporting an undeniably techy aesthetic, the GEL-FLAMMAE is a new silhouette that seems to be a women’s exclusive. The resulting pair draws inspiration from ASICS’ GEL-Wahine II and GEL-NETBURNER IGS II, and also features GEL-KIRIL tooling. Two colourways are set to land: a grey ‘Gunmetal’ and vivid ‘Mako Blue’. The respective shade graces each pair’s sidewalls in an almost rippled pearlescent fashion, while tonal mesh underlays dial up the practicality factor by creating a breathable layer. Well thought out details continue underfoot – the sneaker channels a degree of femininity with a flower-patterned outsole that stretches up to the toe cap, and hints of GEL-packed cushioning peek out from the chunky midsole unit.
