partnership brought with it some of the most creative sneakers to ever grace the hardwood. Ultimately coming to an ignominious end on November 4, 2022, the Swoosh terminated the deal and cancelled the release of the Kyrie 8.

In July 2023, Kyrie signed a brand new five-year partnership with Chinese sportswear company where he will serve as ANTA Basketball’s Chief Creative Officer. As part of the deal, ANTA launched the KAI 1 in early 2024, and we’ve already seen numerous colourways hit the hardwood since. Featuring design motifs that are now synonymous with Kyrie, the KAI 1 incorporates several signature elements like hieroglyphics and philosophical stylings.

Kyrie is now debuting a new model dubbed the KAI 1 Speed for the NBA Finals, with the inaugural ‘Twin Flame’ colourway actually designed by his father, Drederick (who is himself now a signature athlete with ANTA). Funnily enough, the colourway is inspired by the love story between Kyrie’s parents, Dred and Elizabeth, who met at Boston University. Purple represents Drederick, while orange represents Elizabeth. The pink reflects the energy between the two.

Currently, there’s no official release details for the KAI 1 Speed, but make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
