Lacey Baker's New Nike SB Bruin High is Black and White Boss
Speaking of life before signing to in early 2017, pro skater Lacey Baker says: ‘I was doing the best I could with the time I had.' That is, juggling work as a graphic designer with her skateboarding obsession – an obsession fuelled by wildly impressive skills that demanded pro status.
‘But now that I’m in a place where I can skate all the time, I’ve felt myself progress so much faster.’ When she’s not skating the streets of New York, the trailblazing 26-year-old likes to play guitar, draw and design. And its seems her penchant for design – not to mention her effortless, minimal, black-on-black style – didn’t go unnoticed by , who asked Lacey to design a shoe.
The resulting women's Nike SB High – the , which released September 2017 – is wrapped in black all over. A fat, white Swoosh lends the perfect splash of contrast and a heavy dose of cool and class.
On the heels, white embroidered eyes represent visibility; as member of the LBGTQ community and a pro athlete in a male-dominated sport, visibility – and equality – is something Lacey champions tirelessly.
The women’s Nike SB Bruin High x Lacey Baker will be available February 24 from and select retailers.
