Maison Margiela and Reebok Ready New Classic Leather Tabi Décortiqué Low
and have been Tabi toe-ing, high-heeling and hand-painting seminal silhouettes like the , and since the early days of 2020, and now they're back with their latest effort, namely four cut-out Classic Leathers dubbed 'Classic Leather Tabi Décortiqué Low'.
Though the name may be a mouthful, the shoe's design is just as striking for what isn't there as what is. Large portions of the quarter and heel panels have been removed completely in Maison Margiela's signature décortiqué style, 'the practice of exposing and elevating the humble insides of a garment or accessory traditionally covered up', in the house's own words. Removing everything from the shoe except for its essential elements gives these Classic Leathers a cage-like look, and a familiar tabi toe also appears up front, splitting the toebox into two distinct parts. It's essentially a low-top take on 2021's !
Four styles in total are available: Bianchetto – a staple Margiela technique where a black leather shoe is hand-painted in white and purposely chips with wear – bright red, stark black and crisp white. Each features a full leather upper atop an original Classic Leather midsole, and boasts a co-branded tongue badge to boot.
Expect all four takes on the Maison Margiela x Reebok Classic Leather Tabi Décortiqué Low to release via the Reebok and Margiela webstores on January 28. The Bianchetto pair is priced at $650, while the other three styles slide in at $595.
