Margiela's New Sneaker is Busting at the Seams
Chunky sneakers are all the rage and have finally jumped on the trend and debuted their hefty offering in Paris.
The deconstructed (some might say 'wholly unfinished') shoe looks to be hanging on by a thread. With bulging exposed foam and fraying seams, the designs calls back to high-tops from the 80s (and look like they've been stuffed someone's closet since then). Sneakerheads from way back may recognise the ankle strap and perforated toe box from adidas’ 1986 Forum Hi, the Three Stripes from which are echoed on the side panels here.
Not one but two variants were seen walking down the runway: a bright blue high top and a futuristic holographic silver low.
These have just hit the runway, so expect them to drop later in the year.
