Messi Spezial: Inter Miami CF Gets an adidas Originals
broke the internet when he signed with Inter Miami this year. Hot on the heels of winning his first World Cup, it seemed he was on his way out from . Nobody saw the move to MLS coming... Well, did. In a matter of weeks after the GOAT signed with Inter Miami, the South Florida club's Instagram followers grew by 11 million. In just two months, Messi’s Miami #10 was the most sold jersey in the entire MLS. With the entire of Argentina draping themselves in Inter Miami pink ever since, it was only a matter of time until paired the jersey with a sneaker. So, they now bring us the Inter Miami x adidas Spezial.
Dressed in the club's now iconic colour, this latest adidas Originals offering caters to Messi enthusiasts who already have a healthy wardrobe of 'True Pink'. The sneaker is drenched with the vibrant flamingo hue from toe to heel. Styled after Inter Miami's popular jersey, the upper's base light tone is contrasted by 'Core Black' on the 3-Stripes branding and an Achilles' Heel overlay. It wouldn't be true to Messi without honouring his homeland Argentina, so instead of the standard ‘Spezial’ branding, mid-foot panels read Libertad Para Soñar, an Español tribute addressed to the club's diehards that means 'Freedom to Dream'.
The easter eggs don't stop there, Inter Miami details pop up all over. The tongue's heron logo is stamped with the club motto: 'In Order to Be Number 1, We Must Go 2gether'. The team's 'beating pulse' is referenced with Heartbeat graphics on the sockliner, again dedicated to their supporters. Below, the sole unit adopts the standard Spezial tooling, littered with callbacks to Beckham's team and Messi's new home away from Rosario.
