Miu Miu Launch New Balance 530 in Distressed Leather

Update February 12, 2024: New Balance Japan's Marketing Manager Tsuyoshi 'YOSHI' Ikedo has given a detailed look at the white version of Miu Miu's NB530. The pair arrives in a monochromatic design elevated with a suede and mesh construction, as well as co-branding. Update February 5, 2023: As designer brands continue to tap into the sneaker scene, fashion weeks have become the hottest place to break news of a new colab. The AW24 season wasn’t short of these, but while the fashion calendar works a few months ahead, we still have the SS24 drops that were presented last year to look forward to. Among them was this Miu Miu x New Balance 530, which had people talking over its super flat sole and the undoubtedly expensive price tag attached.

With low-profile silhouettes set to be this summer’s hottest thing, the reason for ditching the sole unit has become much clearer. New looks at the sneaker show the style’s skinny suede build and also reveal that it will come with multiple lace options. Miu Miu have just unveiled their next New Balance collaboration during the label’s Paris Fashion Week 2024 showcase, and it’s a 530 that’s perfectly imperfect.

This won’t be the first time the Prada sub-brand joined forces with New Balance, having linked on the NB574 multiple times between 2021 and 2023. Although the internet went wild over the $1K sneakers, the duo’s latest is arguably their best work yet. The imperfect dorkiness of the sneaker plays into the geek-sheikh themes Miu Miu is known for while still having the perfect construction expected from a high-fashion brand.

The GR New Balance 530 is chunky, mostly thanks to its massive sole unit, but Miuccia’s namesake has stripped it down completely, instead opting for an ultra-slim rubber sole. Multiple brown colourways were on display, hosting vintage-esque builds that utilise the usual upper of the 530 albeit with premium suede.

Miu Miu haven’t revealed a release date for their interpretation of the New Balance 530, but expect it to cost more than the usual GR pairs.
