Mizuno Are Scheming on a Comeback

Mizuno Takeover 2018 Sneaker Freaker 1

When you read ‘Mizuno’ you’re more likely to think about performance running than street style. In 2018, the brand is planning to change that with their new creative collective, Kazoku.

A bevy of industry giants are backing their endeavour, with , , , , , One Block Down, , , , and all named as partners.

A collaboration from each focused on Mizuno’s Wave Rider line is said to hit shelves this year, and our money is on them all being heaters.

With sneaker style favouring nonconformity, there’s no better time for a resurgence of Japanese maximalism. Bulky proportions of Muzuno’s 90s sneakers align with the likes of Kiko Kostadinov’s ASICS GEL-BURZ collaboration. And, just like Nike, Mizuno have an exceptional running pedigree — especially with their Wave Rider line, which we can attest to being one of the best performance runners of the early 2000s.

It’s not clear when the Kazoku collective will start firing off colabs, but we’ll hit you know as soon as you can ride the wave.
