Mizuno Make a Splash with the Wave Rider β
are debuting a new model named the Wave Rider β, aka Wave Rider Beta. Designed to be the lifestyle complement to the Japanese brand’s long-running performance line, the Beta brings all of its siblings’ technology into a self-referential yet new package.
This is achieved in the most literal sense by using the sole unit from the Wave Rider 26, reportedly the brand’s best-selling running shoe and the incumbent flagship in their daily training range. The namesake Wave tech reveals itself amid the sculpted foam midsoles, wedged in between the centre layer of the heel. While previous iterations of Wave technology have looked more dramatic, this refined shape is intended to deliver maximum cushioning and propulsion.
What’s built from the ground up on the Beta is its upper, which features elements specially chosen from Wave Riders 8 to 11. Some components are more obvious than others, such as the toe box wrap, while elements including the material selection and colourways are uniquely Mizuno. On the colourway front, the launch editions of the new model are dressed in ‘Pine Green’ and ‘Navy Blue’, presented using classic suede and mesh construction.
The Mizuno Wave Rider β releases on March 24 at selected retailers, with more colourways to come in the near future.
