Update September 11, 2023: A drop date is confirmed! The Needles x ASICS EX89 is set to drop on September 30 via Needles' channels with a wider global launch following on October 7 via ASICS.

Following on from the DC Shoes x Needles collection, Needles have collaborated with ASICS this time to take on the EX89. The EX89 was only launched earlier this year, but its inspiration is much older than that. It takes design cues from another vintage silhouette, the 1989 GEL-Extreme. Needles' have taken this old-school 80s baller and dressed it in the same colourways seen in the DC colab, with Needles' signature purple and butterfly motif taking centre stage once more.

The two Japanese brands stuck to the original design of the EX89 and have kept the colourways simple but striking. The simplicity of the white and black bases ensure the purple stitching and sock liners stand out, with the co-branding also appearing in purple on the tongues and heels. The Needles' butterfly is embroidered in purple on the heel.
