Despite their stereotypical portrayal as stately sneaker providores in sensible shades of grey and navy, are actually no strangers to neon colours. For example, these new highlighter orange recall the heady days of oversaturated shades on retro running shoes, a concept recently explored rather judiciously on the . Let’s take a closer look at these burners.
Appropriately codenamed the M1500NEO, this 1500 more or less uses the OG specification of mesh inserted at the toe box and tongue for ventilation, while finely brushed suede covers the other panels. On the colour-blocking front, NB display masterful balance with heavy-handed use of neon orange across most of the upper, except for the black heel counters, collar lining, laces, and panel edges. Branding is kept simple with either black or white printing and embroidery.
Underfoot, the sculpted ENCAP midsole is still admirably comfortable compared to its modern counterparts. Here, it’s simply rendered in mostly white, with light grey inserts at the heel section and forefoot wedge. An all-black rubber outsole keeps things from going too crazy on the colour front.
The New Balance 1500 M1500NEO is out now from select global boutiques, but expect them to land at NB’s regional webstores soon too.
