Luxe Loafers: More Colourways of the New Balance 1906L On the Way
2024 was a standout year for loafers, but it was the that truly stole the spotlight – in fact, the silhouette even secured a place in our end-of-year First teased during seminal Autumn/Winter 2024 show at Paris Men’s Fashion Week in January, the 1906L shows no signs of slowing down as we head into the new year. The ‘Dark Juniper’ edition is set to drop at New Balance in mid-January, but there's now been another reveal from the Boston brand with a sleek ‘Silver Metallic’ on the way too. This iteration combines a vintage yellowed finish with metallic overlays to tap into the ongoing Y2K revival dominating the sneaker world.
For its part, the New Balance 1906 originally debuted in the late 2000s, paying homage to the year the brand was founded. Serving as a clear inspiration for the highly successful 2002R – one of the standout lifestyle sneakers in recent years – the 1906 and its loafer counterpart are poised to remain integral to New Balance’s plans moving forward. The modern take on the 1906L, including this reimagined loafer-inspired version, is outfitted with cutting-edge tech from New Balance, such as ABZORB midsoles and N-ergy thermoplastic gel outsoles for enhanced comfort and durability.
At the time of writing, release details for the ‘Silver Metallic’ haven’t been confirmed, but stay tuned to Sneaker Freaker for updates. In the meantime, don’t forget to check out our for 2024!
