Denim Drapes the New Balance 2002R
The continues to demonstrate its material versatility with yet another textile transformation. This time it’s denim, which has been used across a trio of fairly tonal colours.
While the original 2002 was intended as a performance runner, its 2002R revival is anything but. This casual application means non-traditional fabrics can be applied with ease. Denim on running shoes, how quirky.
The visible twill can be seen in place of the model’s usual mesh panels: the toe box, ankle collar and tongue are now dipped in denim. Tan ankle tabs are a nice nod to the rear waist patch found on denim jeans. Elsewhere, the usual materials of microfibre and synthetic are used. The tonal blue, black and white colourways each sit on white-on-white midsoles with a contrast black outsole.
This denim-clad 2002R trio is available right now from New Balance in unisex sizes 4 to 15.
