The New Balance 740 Washes Ashore in 'Sea Salt'
With just under a month until holographic lands on shelves, it’s not surprising that the Boston brand are also lining up GRs of the resurrected model, with a ‘Sea Salt’ iteration heading our way.
Like many of New Balance’s current rotation, the hails from their packed archive and in particular from the early 2010s. James Worthy also had a model as his signature basketball shoe; however, that was the P740 and it looks much more like the 550 as opposed to this 740’s meshy Y2K vibe. This one actually looks very similar to the , the NB runner that has been taking the sneakersphere by storm since its debut in 2022.
The ‘Sea Salt’ colourway starts off with a white mesh base before being layered with both light and dark green overlays that shape the shoe in true 2000s fashion. Silver hits highlight the design, also giving it that speedy Y2K aesthetic. While not a performance model per se, the 740 does feature ABZORB cushioning in the midsole that provides New Balance’s signature comfort alongside their style.
The New Balance 740 ‘Sea Salt’ will touch down on October 16, warming up the shelves for Amine’s release on November 1. The GR will retail for $110, making it an affordable alternative to many of NB’s premium releases.
