New Balance Re-Up the Women’s 993
The has been a popular offering in the lineup since its introduction in 2008. In earlier guises it’s been a direct-to-outlet model for the brand, offering their renowned Made In USA quality at a slightly lower price point. However, NB’s continued rise has elevated their entire catalogue up a notch, and thus the 993 is now as premium as its siblings, sitting pretty on boutique shelves. Now it’s back for the ladies in its OG grey splendour.
There isn’t really much splitting the 993 from other flagship NBs of the era. It may not have the same bells as whistles as say, the 992, but the construction and materials are still there. This, of course, means pigskin suede and mesh with lashings of synthetic and 3M reflective. Even the lining is pretty nice to touch. Perhaps the admission here is the slightly less sophisticated midsole, which uses an alternative ABZORB DTS cushioning system, and the squishy bits in the forefoot are considerably smaller.
These details likely mean squat to most that will want to rock them, because they still look and feel great on foot. The New Balance 993 in grey is available now from Asphaltgold and Finesse.
