New Balance Debut the TWO WXY Basketball Shoe
are bolstering their basketball offering following a very strong return to the category two years ago with the . Introducing the TWO WXY, which was first teased in late 2020, the new silhouette has been designed to be versatile on all parts of the court, and suitable for players in all positions.
NB have taken the learnings from the OMN1S and kept its best parts for the TWO WXY. The FuelCell foam midsole is an example of this, and has been tweaked to be even more responsive and propulsive underfoot. Reliable OrthoLite insoles are included as standard as well.
Similarly, the TWO WXY adopts a mid-cut ankle height, which seems almost antithetical to the low-cut shoes that are currently pervasive in modern basketball footwear. However, other models are also bucking the trend with this in-between height, so it must be working well. NB ensure this is the case with their take on knitted uppers, known as Kinetic Stitch, which places support exactly where it’s needed, while maximising flexibility. Elsewhere, contemporary design cues like seamless welded panels, mesh-lined tongues, and as little stitching as possible are par for the course for high performance ball shoes.
The New Balance TWO WXY will debut in two colourways on March 15, ‘Light Peony’ and ‘Team Gold’, which will correspond to NB and NBA players Dejounte Murray and Darius Bazley, respectively.
