New Balance Japan Swing a $650 Golf Version of the M1300JP
Japan are known to get up to some of the craziest sneaker experiments, which often involve classic runners remade for new uses and/or incorporating the finest materials and construction. This latest release is an example of both: the iconic IYKYK has been turned into a golf shoe and is not only super limited, but super pricey too!
Many sports brands have ventured onto the green with golf editions of their best sellers. NB themselves have had a dedicated category for a long time now, but never at the calibre of the premium 1300. This is more than a set of cleats slapped straight onto the sole! NB have redesigned the midsoles using lightweight REVlite foam and arranged the forefoot and heel tread to be compatible with removable grass studs. Up top retains the JP’s nubuck and mesh upper, which is assembled by hand in Japan – a distinction over other NB models.
Those who balked at the regular M1300JP3’s $300 retail – not to mention the that cost over double – might want to close their eyes for the pricetag of the golf editions. 74,800 Yen, or just over $650, is the wedge that’s going to be driven into Japanese sneakerhead’s wallets this weekend. Yep, these are also an exclusive release only offered to select customers who are part of the NB member program.
