It looks like the New Balance 991 is getting in on the pre-distressed sneaker game. These days, brand new sneakers that look pre-worn or faux-aged are commonplace across releases, with key brands like adidas, Nike and Jordan Brand being some of the biggest contributors. That’s not to say that New Balance aren’t completely out of the game, as one of their most recent releases was a faux-aged New Balance 580. However, the 991 is set to be initiated into the crew in 2023.

Kicking things off in New Balance’s famed grey shade, the latest 991 to surface will likely command a double take, looking like it’s been well loved and well worn in years prior. As you’ll see throughout the uppers, the grey suede looks as though it’s been very scuffed up, potentially even with a few stains from over spilled drinks. Of course, that’s all an illusion, as these are completely brand new. Elsewhere you’ll find the familiar Made in UK tooling across the construction.
