New Balance Slay Grey Day with a Trio of Bangers
It’s that time of the year again! ‘Grey Day’ celebrates the iconic American brand and the neutral grey palette inextricably tied to both classic and contemporary NB models. This year, the Boston brand will render both the New Balance and 57/40 in signature shades of grey to acknowledge the annual event.
A stalwart of Grey Day celebrations, the New Balance 574 will offer two choices, a classic grey rendition and an exclusive design that removes the ‘N’ logo – dubbed the 574 ‘Un-N-Ding’. Presenting a worn, aged aesthetic, the Un-N-Ding emblazons ‘New Balance’ on the medial side, while leaving its lateral counterpart blank. Shimmering gold detailing on the tongue gives even more versatility to one of NB’s most adaptable models.
A trailblazer for runners in the 1980s, the New Balance 574 combined the best of both road and trail technology, and quickly transcended its performance roots to become a ubiquitous lifestyle option. With the classic tagline ‘Worn By Anyone’, the 574 continues to be laced by people from all walks of life.
The New Balance 57/40 will also join the ‘Grey Day’ festivities in 2021, after the brand new model debuted earlier this year. Putting the 574 in the spin-cycle, the 57/40 incorporates a bold mix of 80s and 90s styling, and is rendered here in hues of grey to stick with the popular theme.
Manufactured with two stacked midsoles (one inspired by the 90s and one pulled from the 574), this latest grey scheme is again emblazoned with gargantuan ‘N’ branding in leather on the side panels. Metallic detailing illuminates the look, while off-white midsoles extend the aged aesthetic.
