New Balance Treat the 990v5 to Some Colour
One of the most pervasive stereotypes in modern sneaker culture is that typically only use grey and navy colourways, especially for their premium models. This latest proves that thought train couldn’t be further from the truth, as it’s got plenty of hues decorating it.
There is plenty going on with this colourway. Thanks to the liberal usage of mesh, NB are able to apply a gradient to the toe box, tongue and mid panel sections, which starts with deep orange before fading into a white centre and finishing with sky blue. The corresponding overlapping suede panels are shaded to match, making for quite a bold look on foot. Some white overlays and laces add an extra element of strong contrast. As does the tri-toned ENCAP midsole, which introduces the not-often-seen coloured lateral heel.
New Balance are likely well aware that this particular colourway won’t move any faster than a sedate stroll, so the specification of bright shades and grime-attracting materials is a non-issue, as long as wearers take care. But in the event distances need to be traversed quickly, the 990v5 will perform with aplomb.
Pairs of this New Balance 990v5 are available now – and selling quickly – from Oneness.
