Upcycle queen recently teased her upcoming project. The New York City-based and sustainable-focused fashion designer has a PUMA Suede in the pipeline. In 2022, McLaughlin participated in PUMA’s “She Moves Us” campaign but this marks the first time she and the brand linked up for an official product collaboration. Nicole has worked with several shoe brands like Crocs, Vans, and Hoka throughout her career. Now, she and the Big Cat have partnered for the PUMA Suede ‘Sweep The Factory Floor.’

Nicole McLaughlin’s work centres on retooling old materials and products to give them new life and create something fresh. Her PUMA Suede features a colourful patchwork upper that uses scraps of suede to create a beautiful tapestry. In keeping with her unique style, the sneaker's laces are covered by what appears to be a large stash pocket. Fun elements like this have been a staple throughout her sneaker work. As the collaboration name, ‘Sweep The Factory Floor’ indicates, this sneaker utilizes would-be throw-away suede pieces: meaning no two pairs will be identical. McLaughlin once constructed a jacket out of PUMA football gloves now in a full circle moment she created a product with PUMA.

While the official rollout has not commenced and release details remain unannounced, it is expected that the Nicole McLaughlin x PUMA Suede ‘Sweep The Factory Floor’ will drop before the end of this year. Check back for updates as they become available.
