The Nike ACG Moc ‘Triple Black’ Delivers Stealthy Comfort
The is reserved for the IYKYK crowd. They’re not quite sneakers and not exactly clogs either, but the uniquely unidentifiable footwear has been earmarked for a triumphant 2023 re-up in a relatively OG guise. Up next in the Moc’s comeback season is the classic ‘Triple Black’, which hides the model’s lo-fi comfort tech in an easy-to-wear package for both seasoned fans and newcomers to the sack-like shoe.
Debuted in 1994 straight outta the mind of designer Tory Orzeck (and some contributions from Steve McDonald) as a ‘pre- and post-activity’ shoe, the main criteria of the ACG Moc were instant comfort and reliable fit in a deceptively simple package. The resulting product might look like a potato sack glued to a rubber sole, especially in this blacked-out canvas package pictured above, but appearances can be misleading. Hiding behind the formless upper is a cinch system to lock ankles down, and a drop-in foam insole and flexible tread means low-profile cushioned grip is a given.
Almost 30 years later, the ACG Moc will still likely catch a few raised eyebrows, but the proof is in the wearing. Slip into the ‘Triple Black’ edition on August 3 directly from Nike.
