Cough It Up: Nike Revive the Air Foamposite One ‘Cough Drop’

Time to load up on lozenges – the ‘Cough Drop’ is making a comeback in 2025. First hitting shelves in 2007 and reissued in 2012, the classic colourway earned its nickname in 2010 thanks to its resemblance to those translucent cherry throat soothers from your medicine cabinet.
Dressed in sleek black and accented with sharp crimson hits, the 2025 edition revives everything that made the OG a cult classic. Swoosh branding, tongue piping, and heel tabs all pop in deep red. But it’s the outsole that steals the show. The signature icy red sole is back in full force, ditching the semi-translucent one from the 2012 reissue. On the performance side, the build stays true to the Foamposite formula: black suede eyestays, a breathable mesh tongue, and a carbon fibre shank plate for that unmistakable on-court stability.
The ‘Cough Drop’ reissue is part of a broader Foamposite revival from Nike recently, joining the of the ‘Galaxy’ colourway and wild new editions like the ' Tekken collaboration. It’s all part of a renewed push to bring the Foamposite line back into the spotlight – and rightly so. First introduced in 1997, the Foamposite was a technical marvel, featuring a liquid-moulded upper that looked like it crash-landed from the future. Famously laced by the shoe turned heads for its wild construction and precipitous price tag.
Currently, we haven’t caught wind of any official release details, but make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
