The Next Nike Air Force 1 ‘Colour of the Month’ References an OG
series has so far seen reissues of the iconic model featuring white leather uppers and bright contrast Swooshes. The next release under this pack takes a brown bend, which is an appropriate drop for the changing seasons. This particular palette is also a faithful homage to one of the original COTM editions that saved the model almost 40 years ago.
Back in 1983, Nike were considering discontinuing the AF-1. News of this seemingly bewildering decision caught onto a handful of Baltimore-based retailers, who quickly devised a pitch to the Swoosh to try and save the shoe. The idea was embraced, and a year later, these B-more stores began carrying limited edition makeups of the Uptown that dropped each month, thus inspiring the ‘Colour of the Month’ series.
One of the very first variants in this collection featured white leather uppers with brown Swooshes, outsoles and ankle straps on the high-top version of the model. This colour-blocking is reproduced again in 2022 using the low-cut AF-1, which includes additional chocolate accents on the throat’s mini Swoosh and tongue tag.
