Nike Kick Off the Air Force 1 ‘Colour of the Month’ Series with White

Nike’s 40th anniversary celebrations of the Air Force 1 are now starting off properly with the revival of the ‘Colour of the Month’ series. This is a faithful homage to some ingenious thinking from a handful of Baltimore proprietors back in the 1980s, that in effect saved the AF-1 from an early extinction and subsequently propelled it as one of the greatest sneakers to ever bear a Swoosh. The concept returns in 2022 and begins with a blank slate, that is, all-white.

There’s more to this sneaker than just a white-on-white Uptown. Longtime fans of the model will recognise that its silhouette has been tweaked ever so slightly to be closer to its earlier specifications once more. This includes the Swoosh embroidery at the throat panel, which has also had its pattern modified to taper to a point rather than a flat edge. Tapering occurs on the rake too, preventing the bulbous surface that’s occasionally plagued the model. Many will be hoping the leather quality on this new pair has improved too – if anything, the included toothbrush will help keep them clean.

The Nike Air Force 1 ‘Colour of the Month’ in white will release on July 22 directly from Nike and retailers including 43einhalb, who have shot the snaps above.
